Water Problems and Effects
Water makes up a portion of almost everything we see and touch. But it can go through a number of changes before it reaches your tap. Some cause difficulties that we are very much aware of, while others are undetectable. Other water conditions are so common, many of us have come to accept them and may not realise they can be improved.
We generally divide water issues into two broad categories: drinking water and working water. Drinking water refers to the water that goes “in” you; water you use for drinking, making ice cubes, boiling pasta, rinsing vegetables and preparing your favourite recipes. Working water refers to the general purpose water that goes “on” you; water you bathe with and water you use for laundry, cleaning dishes and other common uses.
Remember that a complete home water treatment system addresses both types of water. But the contaminants and their effects are different for drinking water and working water. Explore this section to learn more about how common water contaminants affect your home’s water.
