When the calcium and magnesium carbonate in hard water areas are heated, they turn into limescale. This causes scale build up in your kettle and scum forming in your tea and coffee.

The Kinetico model 9000 drinking water filter uses a combination of resin and activated carbon to reduce these unwanted elements in your water.

The resin reduces these hardness ions (calcium and magnesium), while the activated carbon reduces the chlorine and sediment content.
